A Brief History of The World Journal of Men’s Health

WJMH and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. (“Wiley”) made an agreement on co-publication of the Cochrane Review published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews.
We increased the publication frequency. WJMH is published quarterly on the first day of January, April, July, and October since 2020.
Article processing charges (APC) is being charged on accepted manuscripts submitted after April 1, 2020.
It was accepted for coverage in EMBASE in January 2020, making it searchable from EMBASE, Elsevier's abstract and citation database.

It was accepted for coverage in SCOPUS in September 2019, making it searchable from SCOPUS, Elsevier’s abstract and citation database.
We have changed the cover design of the journal since the May 2019 issue (Vol. 37. No.2).

A policy for sharing clinical data was introduced based on “Data Sharing Statements for Clinical Trials: A Requirement of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.” The World Journal of Men’s Health became a member journal of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ); consequently, its metadata became searchable using DOAJ Search.

It was indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in September 2017, making it searchable from the Web of Science Core Collection. Facebook and Twitter accounts were activated. Open Researcher Contributor Identification (ORCID) was first added for all authors. Author contributions became mandatory. A new submission system (Editorial Manager®) was introduced.
It was indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index in March 2016. It passed the re-evaluation process of the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors.
It became the co-official journal of the Asia Pacific Society for Men’s Health and Aging and the Korean Society for Men’s Health and Aging. The Crossmark (Check for updates) and FundRef (Crossref Funder Registry) services of Crossref were introduced.
It began to participate in PubMed Central; therefore, its citation information became searchable from PubMed. Submitted manuscripts were first screened for plagiarism or duplicate publication using CrossCheck. It was first supported by a Korean Federation of Sciences and Technology Societies grant funded by the Korean Government. Biostatistics and ethics consultants were recruited to the editorial board. Full text PubMed Central XML files were produced and embedded at the journal homepage.
The 30th anniversary of the publication was observed, and Dr. Hyun Jun Park became the seventh editor. The language of the text was changed to English only to recruit papers from outside Korea and to propagate invaluable information worldwide. It was renamed The World Journal of Men’s Health in August 2012 (pISSN 2287-4208/ eISSN 2287-4690). The abbreviated journal name is World J Mens Health. A new homepage opened (http://www.wjmh.org). It was first indexed in the EBSCO database. It began to deposit digital object identifier XML files in Crossref, enabling participation in the international journal papers network. Open-access policy was declared under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License.

Dr. Du Geon Moon was named the sixth editor. Online submission and a review system were introduced. The text was available in both Korean and English. It was first supported by a National Research Foundation of Korea grant funded by the Korean Government. It became a member journal of the Korean Council of Science Editors.
Dr. Soo Woong Kim became the fifth editor.
Its metadata were searchable from the KoreaMed and Korean Medical Citation Index.
Dr. Kwangsung Park became the fourth editor.
Dr. G. W. Jung became the third editor.
Dr. Woo Sik Chung became the second editor. It was renamed the Korean Journal of Andrology (ISSN 1229-1692). It became a member journal of the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors.

Dr. Jun‐Kyu Suh was named the first editor. An English abstract was first provided.

It was first published in 1982 under the title Journal of the Korean Andrological Society (ISSN 1229-1692).
